So the sky rises, warming its feet against the sun

And found me leaning (which has all the

Thrill

Of falling with chattering teeth—except my hands

Will grip the rail too tightly)

And looking down so that a bird

Would have seen me sleeping

                                    Close your eyes and lose Europe

And, beneath my shuttered eyelids (so far down that I

Have to widen out my eyes)

Down below, it seems that everyone has lived in

Spherical rooms with no windows.

But one, you see?

The one with dark hair and the overcoat.

He looks up—

           

                        Later, he told me that he looked up and could see the stars.
