You stare at me
As if I don't exist
And then your eyes focus on my face.
Inside I tremble with fear,
But to you and the outside world
I appear to be completely and utterly fearless.
You move towards me
And I shy away from your touch,
Knowing what's coming
I hide inside myself.
You hit me when I avoid you
And you come closer,
Drawing me into a bone crushing a vice like grip.
"You know I'll never hurt you, right?" you manage to rasp out into my
right ear.
I nod my head numbly,
As my cheek pulses where your hand just was.
I know that you wont ever hurt me.
At least, not intentionally.
