So Far, So Long, Goodbye

She reaches, she struggles

She wants to grasp our hands

She wanted to touch flesh to flesh

Fingertip to fingertip

Her eyes were wide

Emotions filling them

She wanted to grasp our hands

She wanted us to save her

She stretches, she tried so hard

Her heart seemed to burst

And her limbs begin to shake

Her chest rises and falls

With deep, gasping breaths

Her mouth opens

Yet no sound comes out

She wishes to beg

She wishes to scream

She wishes to gain our attention

So we may help her

She wishes so hard

For us to help her

But we cannot help her

We cannot take her hands

No matter how hard it may be

To see her pained eyes

She falls, so far, so long

Down to the ground

We had to look away

So far, so long, goodbye dear child

We turned away

And we leave her behind

A fallen beauty

A fallen angel

So far, so long, goodbye

Sweet goddess

We leave you to your grave

We turn away

We yearn to help you

We wished to save you

We wished to save you

Sweet child

Our fallen child

Our fallen angel

Sweet goddess

We leave you here

In your temple

We had to turn away

So far, so long, goodbye

Our lost innocent

We cannot save you

We could not save you

Our lost innocent

For you were our enemy

So far, so long, goodbye

Our fallen foe
