Strike Back
It's not fair
She can wail on me all she wants
Till my back goes numb with pain
And if I strike back at her once
My punishment is worse than all of her beatings combined.
So I'll keep my mouth shut
And wait for the pain to come with the feelings that will eventually
return.
And not say a word because if I do it'll be worse.
I'll just wait until she's turned around
And left my side
And only then will I let the tears flow.
Not because of the physical pain she's causing me.
But for the restraint that she's taught me.
So that next time
I'll know not to initiate a fight with her
Where it's impossible to win
Because I can't strike back.
