At the Beginning, the birth of the world
The banner of paradise swiftly unfurled
There was no pain, no urge to reach higher
But they fast found the Ice and the Fire.
The Fire that is passion, a fast-burning flame
The Ice that is strength, enduring and sure
They came into being before the First Name
Echoed through an Earth unblemished and pure.
Then in the Wasteland, after the Fall
The hopes of survival were very small.
They would have fallen, but for pure ire
Strengthened and held up by Ice and by Fire.
The Ice that is stubbornness, never relent
The Fire that calls us to move to the goal
Blessings and curses, they both were fast sent
And reside in the stillness that lurks in the soul.
Fast through the ages, a year, minute, hour
Mankind resisted, relied on their power
Fueled by avarice, grief, and desire
Singing the war-song of Ice and of Fire.
The flames unrelenting, the burning of hate
The ice that consumes all and freezes the heart
They goad the soul forward, to never abate
As love and compassion are swift wrenched apart.
Beware of the weapons these forces will gift!
The madness shall rise, unopposed and quite swift.
You must be cautious, the risks are quite dire
Or you will be frozen by cold Ice and Fire.
The flames are unending, forever will burn
The ice always lurks in son and in sire.
Sooner or later, all people shall learn
The bite of the Ice or the burn of the Fire.
