Hold on to dreams,
Like tinted glass,
That shines and sparkles in the sun.
And keep them hovering, in the air,
Never to touch the ground.
Never to let the stale, cold sludge,
Catch them, and pin them, struggling, down,
Into the world of pain and loss, no,
Let your dreams fly free.
See them, your dreams, in the air,
The insubstantial butterfly
That glints with colors of the bubble,
Hinted at the edge of the curve.
Don't pin them down.
Don't dissect them.
Don't let logic weigh them down.
Let the impossible speed their flight,
Let their living be dances of delight.
Keep them for the darker days.
For when you lie awake in bed
Struggling, twisting, turning, seeking
Rest, but finding only the
Lead-lined shoes of sorrows weighing
You down, keeping you from the
Indistinct shore of sleep.
Let your dreams come creeping out,
Let them carry you away
Into the land where peacocks fly,
And every nightmare laughs with you.
Don't let your dreams be shorn away.
Don't let them be taken from you.
Struggle, fight, to keep them close.
They are yours, and yours alone.
No one can take them without your consent.
Sometimes dreams keep you alive.
Let your dreams fly the shades of
Daylight and the dark-time.
Don't hog another's dream,
But make your own. You will
Find no peace in a stolen one,
Keep your dreams close.
May your dreams never die,
May your smiles never dim,
May your laugh never fade,
May you find your heart's home.
May the wind always bear you
Wherever you wish,
May your fire always burn,
May your dreams always fly.
