Winter's Child

Walk alone, stand apart
Burned into the bone
And into my icy heart -
"I shall stand alone."
I am Winter's frozen child
Untouched by the thaw.
And the wastelands of the Wild
Are the cards I draw.
I am maiden cloaked in frost
Chips of ice for eyes.
Minding not at all the cost
As the fire dies.
I am gale from out the North
Borne on darksome breath.
With a smile I sally forth
Singing of slow death.
Who would dare to call on me?
Who would dare to tread
On my path 'cross snow and sea
Past the moaning dead.
I am Winter's frozen child
Untouched by the Spring.
Eyes and heart of purest Wild -
With the frost, I sing.
