I recently watched the movie Bowling for Columbine. This movie was one of the most horrorfying movies i have ever watched.

Mostly because of the fact that all the facts in the movie where true. You watched as people with authority, people who could actually do

things about the way the country is runned turned their backs. But, God bless K-Mart. People came to them with a serious request and it was

really amazing to see that they took it an extra step and went beyond what they really had to do. They, i believe are really helping make their

country a safer place. I'm sorry if this story offends anyone, I use the country america in the story but really it applies to any country and it is for all

peoples and places. It's what happens when countries and it's people are neglected and bad choices are made for them.

I lost sight

-

It was as if i were seeing everythings through a stained glass window or a fog, nothing seemed soiild or real; nothing was black or white. It's so hard to know what is right and what is wrong when everything is coloured or when everything is just a shade of grey.

It was raining, a soft drizzle, the kind that usually brings the fog. It was warm in the house and as if to match the outside the windows kept fogging up I kept running my hand over the cool surface, making a small spot so things would be clear but outside it was still foggy, things weren't clear. It was so easy to get confused with the fog gathering around you.

Thunder began to rumber outside and i crawled away from the window. A storm was quickly gathering and the thunder rumbled again; i could feel it though my whole body, as the sound shook the house it also shook my soul.

Quickly i glanced over my shoulder as my mother and father began to rush through the house. Neither of them took notice of me. They had overslept like most days, now i would be hurried off to school and forgot about. It was likely that i would be picked up a hour late and when i got home i would probably end up making my own supper because mom and dad would be to busy. Once again the day started out with me going unnoticed.

The thunder rumbled again and i shivered in reaction as i picked up my bookbag; it was heavier then usual today. With a sigh i went outside to the car, waiting for them to come.

I sat at my desk staring out the window as the thunder rumbled on. The storm was getting worst now, the rain was pouring down, the fog had disppeared but it was replaced by sheets of rain; I had lost sight of the world. I lost sight of my parents who didn't have time for me. I lost sight of the school that didn't care about me. I lost sigh of the friends that laughed at me. I lost sight of the country that didn't see me.

What i did see was the lightening. It shone brightly through the rain. The ligthening could always be seen, even in the heavest of storms, even in a thick fog. But ligthening was destructive.

It was like seven huge brust of thinger with seven bolths of ligthening; all of them in rapid succession. Then an eigth and final one.

"Hi, I'm Michael Joseph Landen. I'm eleven years old and in grade seven. My parents don't pay attention to me because they both work to pay the bills that pile up. My teacher doesn't pay attention to me either because there are 30 students in my class and she doesn't have time for everyone. My neighourhood has been neglected, streets are run down, buildings are old, playgrounds are broken. I live in America, the country of freedom and prosperity. But only the rich are free and only the mighty prosper. The rest of us go unnoticed in this society, working until are death. The only time we are noticed is when something bad happens. I want to be seen..."

The shot of a gun exploded in the classroom and the teacher, Miss Johnson turned in horro to look at Michael. The young boy had a dazed look in his eyes as he turned with a gun in his hand shooting into the crowd of young students. Everything seemd to do in slow motion as a scream rose up in her throat; her hand reaching out towards the boy. Michael turned to look at her as he rose the gun to his head; the lightening flashed and the bright purple bolt relfected in Michaels dull eyes as a cloud clap of thunder shook the school. Teasr slipped from his eyes as they grew distant and empty as he fell to the floor. A white piece of paper slipped from his now dead fingers to flutter to the floor...

"Hi, I'm Michael Landen and i wanted to be seen. I known now...that my whole country will see me, even though I lost sight of myself..."

"For those who might not understand, the fog is a metaphor for the confusion a person may go through, the lightening a destructive force that drives them."

-

For all those that read this, if you ever get trapped in a fog, lost in a storm. Seek help, there are other ways to been seen. Don't loose sight of the things things that matter and the people that love you.
