As we dragged our feet,
to useless buildings,
giggling and still chatting
under well-pretended masks.
Of decency.

As we shoved our legs
under too low tables,
observing our dear teachers
under light and trembling eyelids.
Of courtesy.

As we wiped our eyes,
the day the rooms and tables went.
As we blew our noses,
as our teachers’ always-rant
had finally stopped.

As we curled our lips
in a despite-happy smile.
As we opened our arms,
hugged familiarity tight.

For the very last time.
