Destroying the Illusion
I sit here, swathed in memories
Remembering the looks on your faces as I betrayed you
The oldest two, they understood (my need)
My need to destroy the illusion
To blast it all away
In the sound of the ricochet
They smiled as they handed me the tools
To bring down this entrapping universe
This phantasmal world of my own creation
The youngest, and the characters
Couldn't understand that it was all a dream
The fading specter of a life surreal
The oldest, she asked
To be remembered to reality
As I fired the shots
To destroy my sacred illusion.
