Raven
One certain midnight long ago, I encountered a certain foe,
Downstairs at the kitchen table I sat,
I had a certain desire burning, for food I was yearning,
With such an ample amount of food, I was sure to become fat,
Then I heard footsteps, pit and pat-
This was my cat
Now normally I do not mind, the feline kind,
Although I favor my dog more than me cat,
But as I was eating, his eyes were seeming almost to plan my demise,
I had no time to think about this fact,
So my slippered foot stomped on the floor mat-
And away scurried the cat
Why does he insist on bothering me, he's like a flea,
I'm allergic to that crazy cat,
But just as I reached for some more bread, the kitty starting playing dead
He was more annoying than a gnat,
I said, "I'm not giving my sandwich to that stupid cat"-
And then up he sat
Before I started to take another bite, I had to satisfy my appetite,
I put on some mayonnaise, reduced fat,
I added a little mustard, and maybe for dessert, frozen custard,
And while all this was going on, here came strolling in the cat,
"What are you doing?" I cried, he was wearing my father's fedora hat-
And then the cat took off the hat
I despise that stupid cat with all his hairs, and the couches he tears,
Why did my sister choose a cat?
I should take him to the pound, or have him drowned (not really),
But then here along came a rat,
I screamed, "Kill it cat!"-
And I heard a splat
And so here I am sitting in a chair,
Under my left hand my dog, under my right, the cat,
Animals have a purpose one and all, my feline friend, I'll no longer abuse
and maul,
I'll sit here petting them, pit and pat-
My doggy and my kitty cat
