Walking On

I stand, I rise despite my pain,
My pride and dignity I must regain.
I have suffered much hurt and loss,
So don't wonder why I am always cross.

Still alone at night I think of you,
Because your love away to her flew.
In your game I was nothing but a pawn,
But I must walk on!

I carry my broken heart,
The one pierced by your poison dart.
But heavily bandaged it will not heal,
The bells for its death do peal.

And still despite the pain I walk,
I walk without once having to talk.
I walk with such a heavy heart,
One that has been so pulled apart.

I rise, I wipe the salty tears,
Things will get better throughout the years.
My time has come to shed the pain,
Now must come the sun as after rain.

My pride in the end wins over all,
And now it is time to answer its call.
For from my heart you are forever gone,
It is time now to walk on!
