For the Glory of Love

The glory of love
The existence of hope
The emergence of faith
The death of loneliness

All this I have yet to feel
Yet to touch
Yet to experience
Yet to lose

A flicker of hope
Given to me
I grasp it tight
Tight to my chest

This is all I have
A flicker of hope
To see your face
Take in your beauty

A flickering glance
My heartbeat escalates
I lose my senses
But do you notice?

You seem distant
And yet kind
You confuse me
And make me blind

I wonder
Wonder about everything
Life and love
How they entwine

What is life without love?
Nothing..therefore I am nothing
A wisp of air
An ant among giants

For I have no love
Have not touched
Have not felt
Its pull on my heart

I was given hope
Hope that lasts
I’m surprised
And yet thankful

So now I pray
A sweet prayer to God
For love
For peace

For all eternity
That I might be with her
To love and to hold dear
In peace and in war

I pray to God
That she will realize
Realize my love and my care
And not shun my very being

It’s true I have made mistakes
But do you count them?
I too am sorry
But I cannot change the past

But I can change the future
Shape it and mold it
From the very weave of time
For us to be together
Throughout all time
So I say now, I love you.
