You’re The Inspiration

The meaning of life
Is contained within love
That which I have none
Have not felt, have not touched

Life has no meaning
I feel no drive
Then she comes along
With her everlasting smile

She is my inspiration
My reason for living
She brings meaning to my life
And brightens up my day

Yet she does not realize
Her effect and power over me
Does not feel, does not understand
My life or my love

She treats me like a friend
Smiles and walks
Yet is still distant
Though still loving

Sense my confusion
Read my troubled mind
Look into my soul
And find me there

Alone, crying
Crying for her
Crying for the world
Crying for inspiration

She is the inspiration
Yet she is also the barrier
For she distracts me
With her beauty and grace

I live but for her
A flicker of light in the sun
A possible hopeful among many
A man waiting to be loved

So once again I say,
“You’re my inspiration
My drive
My reason for existing”

Take me, accept me
See me for who I am,
And not for what I should be
