life on the sticky side?

a string of tape's only as good
as the paste that's on its back
and checkered indicators with
garish lies proudly proclaim
the truth they think they know
but life on the sticky side can
be as good, or as bad as you're worth.
with bits of grit between your
eyes; they're only one of two, you know.
turn your back on the sweet and soft
deceiving little peices of lint.
trust to know the thorns in your side
whose brine and sweat will never let you down.
you know you'll never stick as long
as Duct Tape, Scotch, or Braun,
but generic's always good to do when you're
a modest bit in the department store.
forget the greasy fingers that mar
your clear, transparent surface.
they'll be reminders when the times comes,
and your life on the sticky side is at an end.
