I Am Queen

When the darkness leaves the sky
I shall let my hurting lips smile
When the pain uncovers my being
I may learn to love my life
But meanwhile I dream of a kingdom
Where I am Queen.

If he sees my empty eyes of colour
Stirring like a witch's potion
I shall retreat once more
Away from desire
To dream of silken pillows
In my world of rain and tears
If I am Queen.

In a world where no one knows my name
No one cares for shattered glass
Littering the ground
Which their feet never tread -
Tiny splinters lie in between the cobbles
They are remnants of me
Yet I have no reason for gloomy thoughts
For I have my images
Of when I am Queen.

I shall have those precious jewels
When a ghostly horse's hooves mirror my heart
I could wrap myself in claret silks
With the taste of wine at my lips
And a lover's hand to guide me in my sleep.

Beneath the charcoal sky and acid rain
When cars spit and splash their slurry at me
I huddle in the corner of the world
And watch the blood drain out my wrist
A smile upon my lips
For soon I am to be Queen.
