Close Encounters of the Vulpine Kind

Once upon a time in England, some nobles were off on a fox hunt. Today was a fine morning. There had been a spectacular meteor shower the previous night. The nobles let their hounds loose, and the hounds ran off after the scent of a fox. The hounds followed the scent into the thick woods, and the nobles found it difficult to follow.

After a while, the hounds encountered an unusual sight. They saw a strangely-shaped, large metal object with glass windows. Whatever it was, it smelled of fox. The hounds followed the scent to a nearby clearing, where they found the fox. Oddly, this fox was walking on its hind legs, wearing clothes, and carrying things in its forepaws like their human masters. They hesitated at first, but then they started to bark and chase after it.

Oddly enough, this fox stood its ground. As they ran for the kill, they failed to notice the fox clasp a large metal ring with both forepaws. The metal ring began to glow. The dogs' fur began to stand on end, and immediately afterward there was a loud POP and a bright flash of light. After this, several of the dogs were dead, and the remaining ones were no longer in a mood to hunt.
