I cried the night the stars fell down
From beloved sky
The falling diamonds ebbing light
Led me to believe the night could cry
I held cupped hands to catch the rain
That glistened on my cheeks
The reflection from pools of my own
Questioned the unreasoned weep
The stars and tears littered the ground
Each gleaming to the sky
Now the stars would allure the moon
Not join her up so high
Perhaps they grew too heavy a burden
For the night to hold true
But as the sun rises my crying ceases
As each star becomes a drop of dew
