My new story, enjoy!

This one is supernatural, ooh, fun!

Ja!

Prologue

“No way Carly!” The girl looked at her friend in pure disbelief at hearing the news that had just been broken to her. “Chester Hall?!”

Carly nodded her head while looking down at her sandwich as she and a few others sat on the steps in front of their high school. She didn’t know how her friends would take the news that next year she wouldn’t be going to school with them, but would be going to a prestigious private boarding school called Chester Hall.

The girl continued “But that’s like five hours away!”

“I know, Sammy.” Carly replied, her voice soft. She never spoke loudly; it wasn’t in her character to do so.

Sammy sat back down in a huff. She gave the impression of being angry or hurt, yet it was a simple illusion. She was just upset. “Carly?” another girl named Janny spoke up. Carly turned her head towards her. “Are you really going to Chester?” she asked.

Sammy jumped back up “Of course she is! She just said that she was!” she snapped. Carly tried to hide a small smile; this was just like Sammy, to overreact about everything. “That place is really preppy, Carly.” She pointed out.

            “I know.”

            “And expensive.” Janny added.

“That’s true too…” Sammy paused. “Hey Carly, I didn’t know you were rich!” Janny and Sammy looked at her expectantly. She shook her head.

“I’m not.” She replied. “I got a scholarship to go there.”

“You mean for grades and stuff?” Sammy asked.

Carly nodded her head slowly. “Also, they have horseback riding there, so I’ll be able to ride everyday as opposed to once a week here.” She added.

“Are you sure you wanna go?” Janny asked. She wasn’t usually one to ask these kinds of questions, so she had Carly’s full attention.

            “Of course, why not?”

“Well, I mean, the people there, are different then here.”

“They’re just teens, Janny, like us.”

Janny shook her head. “No, not like us.” She took a breath as if she was planning to go into a long speech and knowing her, she probably was planning to do just that. “All those kids are rich and they’re probably really stuck up. They wouldn’t like you because you’re not like them, not saying that they shouldn’t like you, just saying that they probably won’t.”

“What’s there not to like about Carly?” Sammy asked, not liking Janny’s analysis.

Janny put her hands up in her defense and shook her head. “Nothing at all, to us, but to them, everything.”

“What makes you such an expert?” Sammy questioned.

“Well, cause I know what rich people are like. They brag about everything and show off their million dollar outfits and that’s not Carly.” Janny explained and then turned to Carly. “All I’m saying is that, the people are going to be different and from what I hear about those places, not very accepting.”

“Whatever!” Sammy laughed. “Don’t listen Carly, how can they not love you?”

“You know guys, what else I’ve heard about that school…” Janny began in time to see Sammy roll her eyes and then look back at her, waiting to hear this one. “…weird stuff goes on at that school.”

“Oh please! Spare me this one.” Carly nodded her head agreeing with Sammy. “Not another ghost story!” Janny was famous for her ghost stories used to scare anyone, no matter where they were going. She probably had a story in store for next time they went to the mall or better yet, to the supermarket.

“It’s true!” Janny shot back. “A few years ago, someone disappeared from that school and there are always weird things going on.”

“Have we been reading too many tabloids?” Sammy asked, joking good-naturedly.

“No!” Janny was excited now; she hated it when Sammy denied the truth to her stories. “Things go missing and teachers leave and a couple were arrested…”

“Welcome to the world of Janny Peters!” Sammy exclaimed loudly, making Carly laugh and making Janny’s face glow bright red. Sammy laughed so hard that she spit out the water she had begun to drink and almost fell off of the railing that she was leaning against.

“Samantha Burns! Stop it right now!” Janny exclaimed, the full name basis indicating that they were slightly angered at each other, soon they were at each other’s throats.

“You guys!” Carly exclaimed, looking at them, shocked. “Calm down!”

Janny and Sammy both sat down at opposite ends of the stair case, each one looking a different way, eyes narrowed and genuinely pissed off at the other one. Carly couldn’t hide her amusement at the situation. She didn’t know how her friends were still alive with the way that they treated each other.

            “She started it.” Sammy mumbled.

            “No, she did.” Janny retorted.

Sammy stuck her tongue out at Janny, and Janny right back at her. This was a truly never ending thing. Carly rolled her eyes and shook her head. She couldn’t do anything about it once those two started, but she was slightly afraid of sitting directly in between them for fear that they would kill her in the process of killing each other.

She would miss them though. They had been her best friends since kindergarten and she almost felt like crying at the thought of going to a different school than them, but she didn’t, because if she started, she had no doubts in her mind that Janny would be the next to follow suit and bawl her eyes out. Sammy wouldn’t have cried, she never cried, but Janny was a completely different story.

“You did!” Sammy yelled.

“No, you!”

“Like hell!”

“You guys!” Carly stood up in the middle of them. “Calm down!” she yelled.

Janny and Sammy sat back down, each one staring in a different direction, once again with their eyes narrowed, glaring at each other even though they were facing opposite directions.

Suddenly they both turned around and threw their arms around Carly. “I’ll miss you so much Carly!” Janny was almost sobbing.

“Hey, it’s ok, we’ll talk with IM.” Carly replied.

“Janny, you’re way too sensitive.” Sammy added her two cents in. “but, it won’t be the same without you, Carly girl.” She established. “I’ll IM you every day, so you better have your laptop on!”

“Of course!” Carly exclaimed. “I’ll talk to you guys every night to get away from those horrible rich kids that you’re trying to scare me about!” she laughed slightly.

They all laughed.

The next day, Carly would be leaving for Chester Hall.
