In Which Raela Attends the Ball

"Oh! It's beautiful!" Raela gasped, twirling around in the first of five gowns that her faithful servants had bought for her.

"Let us do your hair, highness!" the servants said excitedly.

"Alright." Raela sat down and instantly two servants began working on her hair, combing and brushing it before styling it fashionably. They placed two white flowers in, and then stepped back, admiring their work.

"You are very beautiful," one servant said, beaming.

"Yes, truly a jewel," the other agreed, smiling as well.

"Why- thank you, I guess," Raela said, blushing and then gasping as the two women suddenly transformed into two brown mice.

"That woman's here," Kale said from the doorway, stepping out of the way of the two now running mice. "By the way, princess, you're looking good."

"So are you," Raela said, smiling. Kale was dressed in a silvery green suit, with white embroidery to match Raela's white flowers and the white trim on her dress. His long hair was braided behind his neck, and his ears had some how acquired small green earrings... about three on each ear.

"Of course I am. I'm always beautiful, Princess," Kale said, shrugging.

"Ah. So- my fairy godmother is here?" Raela asked.

"Yeah. Downstairs." Kale turned around, and Raela picked up her mask before hurrying after him, trying not to trip in the wide gown.

The two days had passed faster than Raela had thought possible, and now... tonight... she would finally see her prince again.

"Oh! Raela! You look absolutely gorgeous!" her fairy godmother ran up to her, and hugged her shoulders. "You're even prettier than your mother when she was this old! Oh, oh, before I forget, I have a present for you."

"A gift?" Raela wondered, surprised.

"Oh yes. It's a collective birthday present for all of the years that I missed out on your birthday. Here you go!" the woman handed Raela a necklace.

Raela held it up to the light, admiring the large, star shaped pendant. It was made out of a beautiful red and blue diamond, which glittered in the light, and seemed to give off a faint warmth.

"It's a truth stone, love," her fairy godmother said, taking it back and clasping it around Raela's neck. "It grows warm whenever someone speaks a lie. I'll show you. Elf, say a lie."

"Why me?" Kale grumbled. The woman glared at him, and he rolled his eyes. "Fine. Whatever. Um... I like to eat cabbages..."

Instantly, the stone warmed up against Raela's skin, and her eyes grew wide. "Oh! Wow! Thank you so much, Fairy Godmother! This is wonderful!" Raela hugged her, beaming.

"I hoped that you would like it!" the woman smiled, and then stepped back, obviously thinking. "Now, how in the world are you going to get to the ball?" She glanced at Kale, who held up his hands.

"Nuh uh. I don't have to do anything unless she wishes it. She asked to be a princess- not to get a ride to some stupid dance," Kale said, shrugging.

"You're so irritating!" the fairy godmother snapped.

"You're so fake!" Kale snapped back.

"Stupid elf! Can't you do anything?!" the fairy godmother snarled.

"Can't you? Or, oh, let me guess, you're powers aren't strong enough, are they?" Kale asked mockingly.

"Uck! You're so full of it!" The fairy godmother glared distastefully at the elf, and then turned Raela around. "Come along, dearie, I'll find you a carriage to get you there, never fear."

Raela followed the woman outside, suddenly nervous for the ball. What if Prince Aalrin recognized her? What if he didn't recognize her? What was she supposed to say to him if he asked her to dance...!

"Ah ha! This should do!" The fairy godmother seemed to have been digging around the underbrush near the forest, and she came up, holding a small acorn. She breathed on it, and it turned a silvery white color. almost like crystal, Raela realized.

The woman threw the acorn into the air, and waved her arms, shutting her eyes.

To Raela's amazement, the acorn grew and grew, until it was the size of a normal carriage, although it was far more beautiful than any carriage that she had ever seen. "Oh! Oh thank you, fairy godmother!" Raela cried, hugging the woman tightly. "This is so wonderful! Thank you!"

"Let's go!" Kale, out of no where, jumped onto the driver's seat, and cracked the whips, six silvery stallions appearing beneath it. "Ahh, so you did manage to find horses. What are they originally?" He asked, glancing over his shoulder at the fairy godmother, his annoyance at her obviously gone.

"Bugs, of course. Now, hurry and get in, Raela dear," the woman said, leading Raela to the door and helping her inside-which happened to be just as nice as the outside-and then closing the door. "I'm afraid that my enchantment will only last for four hours, so at. midnight, you'll have to be back here. Don't worry though, because at eight tomorrow night, the carriage and horses will return."

"Thank you again, fairy godmother!" Raela said, smiling at the woman. "You've helped me so much!"

"Have fun!" the woman called as Kale (who appeared to be enjoying himself) whipped the bug horses into movement, "make that prince fall in love with you!"

Raela blushed, but found herself smiling anyway. This was so amazing! She had never considered that she might be so lucky as to have three wishes and a fairy godmother help her marry the prince.

Kale drove the carriage at a fast pace, meaning that they arrived in the city on time, arriving before most of the other princesses and royalty to the Grand Ball.

Kale stopped in front of the large ball room, nodding to solidiers on guard, who were waiting for the carriages. "Presenting," Kale said, jumping off the driver's seat and opening the door for Raela, helping her out, "the Esteemed and Beautiful Princess Raela."

The soldier peered at Raela, and then nodded, allowing them passage into the ball. "Boy will take th' carriage," he muttered.

"Thank you." Kale bowed, and then lead Raela up the steps into the ballroom.

"I didn't know that you were going to come all this way," she admitted.

"Huh? You thought I was going to miss out on a party? There's no chance of that. Hmm. This way, I think." He pulled her up a staircase to a spot where servants were milling around large, closed doors. Kale leaned over to one, and said, "Princess Rae."

The man bowed, and opened the large door, shouting, "Now presenting the Princess Rae!"

Kale pushed Raela through the door, and she found herself standing on a carpet, which lead to three thrones, where the King, Queen and. Raela found her legs going weak... where Prince Aalrin was sitting!

Haha. That's all Spete has written! No more no more. However, if you want to learn what happens... tell me... I guess I'll tell you or something. It really isn't too surprising though...

Oh yeah. It's weird I actually DO like writing fractured fairy tales... strange as it might be. Usually I modernized fairy tales... but not this time I guess. Whatever. I didn't really like this story anyway... *wanders off*
