Your smile shows pain
Hidden by shame
A brave smile
That lasts only a while
Then falters and dies
As tears fill your eyes
It's unbearable, they say
Yet you bear it every day
Never a chance for rest
Never at your best
Hiding behind a façade-
A cheerful charade
Feeling so alone
You're not on your own
They can't help you, your friends
Because though they try, nothing mends
Your pent up emotions
Pills are empty potions
Taking away the hurt
Lifting you from the dirt
So you sleep…
Then awakening, you weep
Will it never end?
Death would be a godsend
Finally so tired of life
Wearily you pick up the knife.
