CARPE NOCTEM

Carpe noctem, carpe noctem

Dies necandus est.

Hand on your chest.

Tace, tace, occide cordem!

*

Carpe temporem nocturnum

And gaze upon Selene's face,

And marvel at her swift pace.

Ecce lunae ambulacrum!

*

Carpe noctem, carpe noctem,

Don't sleep

Don't weep

Carpe noctem, carpe noctem…

Translation and notes:

Use the night ( =time of the night)

The day has to be killed.

Hand on your chest.

Be silent, be silent, kill the heart!

*

Use the time of the night

And gaze upon Selene's ( =Greek goddess of the moon) face,

And marvel at her swift pace.

Behold the path of the moon!

*

Use the night, use the night,

Don't sleep

Don't weep

Use the night, use the night…
