Before you know it
Your happiness is floating away
On a cloud spun of wishes and dreams.
You’re nearly drowning,
Searching for a breath of life,
A ray of hope, a lifeline
In the storm-tossed seas of your tears.
Can you feel it?
This unholy pain of abandonment?
All you know is that he’s gone away,
Left you standing in quicksand.
It’s pulling you down
Into the unbearable darkness of your depression.
Is he ever coming back?
Will you ever see him again?
You don’t know how to tackle your own feelings,
How to control them, suppress them.
Do you try to cut them out?
Holding the knife over your skin
In a moment of complete and utter despair,
Can you trace the pretty pictures in your skin?
They ache and they bleed as you cry and you scream,
While the blood doesn’t even come close
To numbing the pain in your heart.
So have you ever felt it?
Have you ever cried over your own blood,
Sobbed over the pictures that mar
The near perfection of your wrists?
You’ve felt it; you’ve lived it and breathed it.
Don’t tell me I’m crazy,
Because I just might end it now.
And what would you do to stop me?
You’ve felt it too,
I know that you understand it....
And you still don’t know a fucking thing about me.
