The young elf charged headlong into the already growing mass of chaos. Dragons had thundered past him as he ran towards the enemy ranks he had already helped to thin tremendously. The sound of battle was deafening as mighty, proud dragons roared in defiance of the beasts of the Shadow who were whipped up into a bloodlust by their commanders.
Already the ground was stained black with the bodies of the enemy and that tide would deepen as the strong forces of the Champion's dragons bit deeper into the enemy ranks. Here, under the crystal blue sky chaos reigned supreme and the only way to live was to kill.
Valdez had no problem sharing this mentality and was soon charging with reckless abandon into groups of enemies. His normally golden eyes shone with a strange blue light as the Laen power coursed through his body, providing him with enhanced senses and reactions. Also it was quite a powerful weapon against some of his tougher enemies.
Off to his right a mighty dragon screamed in its death throes as it was pierced by many wicked looking black weapons; its proud blood flowing profusely from the many mortal wounds it received. The sight of one of their own dying at the hands of the enemy only spurred the dragons on; who were now determined to kill every enemy before them.
The death also had a profound effect on our young hero, who was close enough to avenge the once mighty beast. Up came Valdez's slender hand, snapping up violently palm forward. From the middle of his palm a mighty ball of fire began to form, swirling to about the size of a watermelon before the elf sent it flying at the enemies surrounding the dragon.
At once the entire place ignited into violent flames that seemed to burn with an almost eerie intensity. Valdez smiled smugly as he watched his most hated enemies burn under the intense heat, "There will be no more blood for you beasts." he said softly, sensing another rushing at his exposed back as he spoke.
The elf waited until he felt the enemy swinging and then ducked low, letting the hit go harmlessly over him as he stabbed the beast one, two, and then three times in the stomach. The monster howled in pain, but before it could ready another swing Valdez's curved dagger had flown from his hand and taken the creature right in the throat.
With a silent summons the weapon returned to his hand, and the beast tried futilely to stem the blood that now sprayed from its open neck. The fight was short-lived though for death soon took it as it lay on the ground, still fighting to stay alive.
The elfs inhuman blue eyes regarded it's newly felled opponent coldly, never caring that he had taken the life of such an evil being. With an eerie smile he charged off to join the fray once more. Valdez saw a nearby group of enemies still holding on stubbornly with the held of one of the Raendrals beasts. With a wild glean to his eyes the young elf charged headlong into the enemy's ranks.
Valdez twisted slightly, rolling over a sword thrust meant for his own stomach. Slapping down hard on the beasts arm, he rolled it over before stabbing the wrist and thus releasing its grip on the wickedly curved weapon. As it fell he put his foot under it, aiming for it to land and then snapping his leg forward, throwing the deadly projectile outward and into the chest of another charging Graendl.
There were still many more left though and without pause the elf charged forward, spinning and twisting expertly to avoid weapons or parry where necessary. The elf batted off one club swing aimed for his head, and took the force of the blow to let him dive into a roll, narrowly missing a weapon aimed for him that instead took one of its comrades in the stomach.
The beast snarled and viciously ripped its weapon free of its dying companion and charged at Valdez again; bringing its weapon up for a powerful downward chop it hoped would kill this annoying foe.
Valdez smiled maliciously, easily deflecting the chop and then batting at the weapon once and then twice to knock it out wide of the Graendls body. The agile elf then took the opportunity to step in and smile up at the ugly shadow-spawned creature before impaling his dagger into its stomach. Smiling the whole time, the elf gave it a vicious twist and then ripped the dagger free; kicking the dying beast away from him as he turned to find another opponent.
Inhuman blue eyes opened with surprise when the deadly elf found that a Raendrals mount was charging at him; its mouth open and showing those razor-edged teeth it intended to tear through the elf with. Barely getting into a parry the elf was grazed lightly on his right shoulder as he twisted, but scored a minor hit by stabbing the beast in it's bottom jaw as he stumbled off to the side.
Digging its clawed feet in stubbornly the beast turned, and dove; trying to crush this annoyance under its massive body weight. How the beast howled when it found the elf not under it, but on top of its back and stabbing with that vicious dagger at its exposed back.
Howling all the louder the stubborn mount spun, trying to remove this formidable adversary before it managed to strike a mortal wound. Smiling from under his bloodlust Valdez rode the beast easily, and managing to continually cut and stab the beast from beneath it.
This little charade carried on for a few minutes until tired and weakened from blood loss the beast fell onto its side and lay there breathing heavily. Valdez walked up calmly and stood before it, staring down into its red eyes which still gleaned with hunger as I struggled to lift its massive head. Calmly the elf walked around to its stomach and began to stab it repeatedly until the beasts' massive chest moved no more.
Smiling Valdez turned to look for another victim, but the battle was already at its end, with a small group being destroyed by no more than 8 powerful dragons. The victory would have been grand to any mortal army, for the number lost were only 23 but for the proud dragons that lived long lives it was a bloodbath for their kind.
The power slowly drained from Valdez and his eyes returned to their normal golden color. Looking over the scene of destruction Valdez's lips moved silently, an offer of prayer to those dragons who had died to defend their home. The words were elven in nature and ones that he had used during campaigns in his time servicing in the Imperial Army of Laruk. In the common tongue it stated, "When I get to Heaven to the Creator I will say, one more soldier reporting for duty sir. I've served my time in Hell." With his prayer finished Valdez made the holy symbol the elves used for the Creator in the air, and then was off to find the leaders of the dragons.
