The Dawdle Disease

I lay sprawled out on my bedroom floor

And I think about doing nothing

I wait for the next thing big in life

Or at least when I can stand up.

“A project is due, no, no, no wait,

I have another day, I’ll do it tomorrow…”

But, then it’s tomorrow and what happens

I don’t get anything done

Is it just me or is it just the work

The work is easy, so maybe it’s me…

I’m lazy, I’m lazy

I think I’ll do it later

Procrastinator, hanging on fire

But I’ll wait till t’morrow

The disease is out and it’s been spreading

I’ve fallen victim to it; you know it

I’ve been lounging around doing nothing

Even quit my hobbies for awhile

I stare out my window, with a pen in hand

Falling into a daydream

Throwing myself on the floor

I count the cracks on the ceiling

With all the other delinquents

School is out, but I’ve got summer school

For the entire summer vacation

Rip up the papers and assignments

And throw it against the wall

Throw myself on top of the desk

And fall asleep in school
