Well haven't I been a proud poem all evening
Waltzing through the ball-rooms of your mind
You see I'm not wearing rhyme tonight
It's grown slightly out of fashion
But now I want to know can I manage
Without my mask of metaphor
Let me lay it aside
And will you still like me
When I take off my adornment of alliteration
And will you read on
When I have washed off all make-up
Can you accept
That the truth is so simple
And now that I am
Nothing is my own
All I have is a quote
I have a quote that is all
The way the truth the life
I give you the word
What I really want to say is
JESUS.
