ACT 30: Epilogue

And I guess that’s my story.

I bet your wondering why I never got together with Natalie. Strange thing is, I never saw her again. I’m starting to wonder if everything that happened was real or not because I haven’t even seen that bitch—I mean witch again either. It’s been three months since I’ve seen her at school that day.

Although I have strange urges to listen to country music and wear as much pink as any guy is allowed to without being quoted to being well, lets not go there.

As I sit here in my car looking at the house that should have belonged to Natalie Doane but never did. The house is just an abandoned one that looks like it’s hasn’t been lived in for years. I wonder if everything was a dream or simply a figment of my overactive imagination. I turn my head over to Cyndi.

“Hey girly, you know that story I told you, do you think it was true?” I asked her.

“I think you’ve been smoking too many shrooms.” She said chewing her gum noisily, “for one men don’t know the first thing about women never the less they could live a week in the life of one.”

I sighed and got out of my car, “I don’t think this will work out Cyndi.” I said looking at the ground.

“But, Luke I love you.” Cyndi said getting out of the car to hold me.

I stared at Natalie’s house, “but I don’t love you.” I said walking towards the front steps of the house. When I looked back at my car I remembered that that was the place where numerous guys were waiting for me—ah—Natalie.

“You can grow to love me!” Cyndi said trying to pull me into a kiss with her long nails digging into my face.

“But it’ll never grow into real love, like the love I have for Natalie.” I said walking up to the front door of the house.

“Natalie! Natalie, Natalie, Natalie. You cry about this girl who you claim exists and who you claimed to have been. She never existed!” Cyndi cried.

“I need to know for sure though. Cyndi it’s over.” I said pushing Cyndi away and walking into Natalie’s all too familiar house.

Cyndi walked in with me and slapped me across the face leaving nail marks and blood in three parallel lines across my face. Blood streaked down my face but I ignored it and went upstairs to Natalie’s room. Cyndi stomped off in anger.

Natalie’s room was empty and had no feeling in it. That clean girlish room I had seen when I first came inside was now a disgusting dingy room with rat holes in every corner.

I sat down on the empty floor where I read Natalie’s Diaries and where I saw her photo albums and tried to remember everything about her. If she never existed then how come everything seems so real like it did happen?

“I didn’t know that no matter how much I hid from you that you would still find me.”

I turned around and saw Natalie almost crying.

I clenched my fist, “what do you mean?” I asked her.

“I asked Allison to cast a final spell on you so you wouldn’t see me or anything that had to do with me.” She said, “I did it because I was afraid of you.”

“But why?” I asked her.

“When I was you, I realized that I was in love with you and I couldn’t take that. I was hoping word got out that I was hit by a UPS guy but I can only assume you never knew.”

“Natalie, I love you.” I said staring into her eyes.

“When I saw you and Cyndi together. I knew you wouldn’t love me. I had to do it please don’t be angry with me.”

I stood up so I could stare her straight in the eyes. “Three months Natalie. I wasted three months of my life with a girl who couldn’t even amount to you. I contemplated for three months whether or not you were real or that I had even been you. I pondered for three months that if you were still here if you would be with me or would you go with someone else. I love you Natalie and I want to be with you and there’s nothing that’ll change that. Even when you were gone I could find you and I’m willing to do it again.”

“Luke Satriani.” Natalie said with tears on her eyes, “I want to be with you too.” She jumped up and wrapped her arms around me.

“What about Allison?” I asked.

“She promised after this spell that she wouldn’t use her magic again.” Natalie said embracing me tightly.

“But doesn’t she love you.”

Allison walked into the room holding someone’s hand revealing that it was Sara Lyn. Of all people. “Actually Sara Lyn and I hooked up after Elvin ran away.” Allison said kissing Sara’s cheek.

“Being a lesbian is like the newest thing everyone’s doing it!” Sara said. She rolled her eyes at Natalie, “except some uncool people.”

“What the hell are you two waiting for?” Allison asked, “Kiss so we can end this story!”

I looked Natalie in the eye, “this doesn’t bother you?” I asked her.

“Hey, just because I’m just a girl doesn’t mean I don’t have feelings.” Natalie said with a devious grin.

“What are you feeling?” I asked faking sincerity.

“Like kissing you more times then once.” She leaned in and kissed me.
