Chapter 1 Escape

Mercy ran, her reasonably long raven colored hair trying to keep up with her incredible speed. She could tell that the small group behind would soon catch up. She quickly dodged the incoming trees, and slid down the small muddy hill, only to find herself above an even bigger, steeper, one. She looked back and saw the quick cuts of darkness in the air and looked back down at the hill. Bending her knees while holding her balance, time seemed to stop for a single moment as she jumped with incredible height and speed from the top of the hill. She landed, almost motionless and in silence, and quick went into a sprint to the road. She could hear the speeding cars nearby and ran with all of her might. She was unsure of how far back the group was, but she didn't dare turn and look again. Her black boots finally touched the matching asphalt and she looked for a way to run, or at least a car to stop. She ran in the middle of the road and a small dark colored car stopped, skidded, and almost crashed into her. A man in his late twenties got out. "Are you okay? I didn't even see you, you came out of nowhere." Mercy stared in silence at the man, then spoke quickly and quietly. "I am sorry." She speeded by him, slamming her palms in a quick motion into his side. He flew a huge distance and landed by the side of the road. He landed with a smash and bones broke. The dark beings that were chasing her earlier slipped out. They split, some attacked the man and, baring fangs, bit into his neck and arms, as he yelled in pain, unable to do anything from his broken bones, not even fight back. Mercy jumped into the drivers seat, hit the pedal and started speeding off. One of the dark clothed figures grabbed onto the open drivers door and hung on, growling with sharp fangs. Its hand shot out and began swinging at Mercy, but she slapped it away repeatedly and hit back. She shot a glance back at the back seat and found a suitcase, which she swung by the handle and smacked the hanging on creature right in the face. It pulled him off of the seat, and along with the suitcase, he landed and watched the car drive off. He made an angry look and snickered and turned back the way he came. The remaining red-faced creatures looked at him with no expressions and walked back as well, while another dark clothed person drank the remaining droplets of blood from the shattered man on the floor. The suitcase lay open and papers and documents flew out, along with a picture of a man, a woman, and a small child on his shoulders.
