This is how you thank me.
Angry words and long-forgotten evils,
Tossed and thrown at me -- just because.
I want to scream and cry and tear my hair out,
To hurt myself like you do.
Can't you see that I'm trying?
Once, when everything around us was tainted
By the evil of guilt and betrayal,
The ease of love made my life bearable.
Now I don't even have that.
You fucked it all up, made everything complicated.
A million beats per minute,
My heart is trapped in a race against time
And it's losing badly.
Don't tell me that you love me
Or that you wish we could go back and start over.
Because I couldn't believe you if I tried.
I can't satisfy your cravings,
And I can't give you all the things that you deserve.
Or have you forgotten that I've already tried?
Maybe hearts were made to be broken,
But playing with fire only makes the pain worse.
Don't try to reason with me;
I've made up my mind and there's nothing
You can do to change it.
