I want you to soothe the grey clouds from the sky,
To tell me that everything is okay,
That we live, we love, we grow, we die,
And its all for a purpose.
I want you to design the ages,
Breathe the last words of a murder,
Show me the ink stains on the pages,
And sing me the beauty of death
I want you to show me the innocent child,
The sunny skies, and shadows in the sun,
Sad days transformed if only I'd smiled,
And tell me that we're all just basically good.
I want you to whisper the lies,
And scream out the challenges,
Muffle the unborn cries,
And show me it's all alright.
I want you to show me the dirt between the toes,
The animal, the nature, the seams,
I want you to tell me I was wrong, I suppose,
And that this air is safe to breathe.
I want you to show me the melody of ice
The beauty of the insects and the quarrelling,
The heart in the hand, the songs of the souls,
And that we're all just ink and happy.
I want you to hand me the sky of crystal,
The wonder in the eye and sparkle in a smile,
An elusive kiss, or this magnetic pull,
Will remain long after buildings have burned.
I want you to hold me under the narrow moon,
Under the great big sky,
And promise me that tomorrow is just a phrase.
That's all that I want.
