Section IV
That was amazing.was there no end to his true love's genius? He had
kept both his fancies without them having to fight about it. Maggie, who
he thought had been a cold, selfish person actually understood when it came
to Theo. Perhaps she was just the average girl, jealous of other girls but
understanding when it came to gays. Almost every girl he had ever met had
loved the fact that he was gay. They all wanted to talk about boys with
him and do other things.but they never were the kind of girls you could
rely on. Based on that kiss and her grateful expression, she was
different. It was a girl who had turned Maggie's blood cold, but when
there was no competition of the same gender she was fine.
Perhaps it was the fact that no matter what they would both have
their own differences and there would be some things that Ike liked about
one and not the other. Ike had it made; being bi seemed to have very
distinct ups and downs.
Theo looked in the mirror, wearing a dark grey, cotton T-shirt, and
baggy blue jeans. To top this off he wore Ike's red hat on top of his snow-
white hair. He stood up tall and smiled at himself, bounding down the
stairs.
"Time to go already?" his foster mother asked and he nodded happily.
"Alright, you have a good time, you're walking with your friends right?" he
nodded to this also and she smiled.
He ran out the door and toward Ike's house, ringing the doorbell. A
tall, dark haired man that Theo had heard of before opened it; if he
remembered correctly, his name was Dean.
"Oh hello, you must be Theo." Dean said, turning to go get Ike.
Theo smiled radiantly as Ike came down the stairs, wearing dark blue
jeans, a red shirt, and black Converse shoes on. Ike beamed at Theo and
hugged him tightly, getting and interesting look from Dean. Ike shrugged
it off however and they left. When they reached Maggie's house she was
already on the porch, wearing tan shorts and a tight, dark green T-shirt.
In her ears were golden hoop earrings that shined in the soft light of the
setting sun. She smiled warmly at the two of them and they began to walk
to the dance.
It was crowded and hot but the three of them went in anyway, hoping
it would be one of the best times of their lives.that would now be very,
very long. The music was the same but no one minded as they talked and
danced their hearts out, Ike getting jealous stares from some of the boys
as he danced with Maggie. The only strange part was dancing with Theo.
A slow song came along and his hands rested around Theo's hips and
Theo's arms came around his neck. They danced slowly; gathering grossed
out and awed stares from some of the boys, giggles from the girls and
smiles from some of the understanding ones. As he danced slowly with Ike
his eyes were caught by one smiling face that belonged to his friend Thad.
Thad was standing in front of a tall, handsome, and dark haired man
who had his arms wrapped around Thad's small body. Thad waved and Theo
waved back just as Thad's boyfriend nibbled his ear lovingly and Thad
giggled, blushing. Next to them stood a tall man, not quite as tall as the
dark haired one, but tall nonetheless, with bright, glowing green eyes and
light brown hair. He looked familiar.perhaps Ike had met him before. The
song ended and Theo hugged Ike, turning to a smiling Maggie, who took him
into a tight embrace also.
"So you two, what should we do now?" she asked, smiling brightly at
them both.
Theo and Ike exchanged excited expressions and said at the same time,
"Pizza!" With this she sighed and they headed upstairs to get some pizza.
Once upstairs they gathered stares due to their dancing down in the
gym. No one really wanted to talk to hem so they ate their pizza quietly
in the office, watching the movie that just happened to be on, Behind Enemy
Lines. Quite suddenly, Colin popped into the room and stared at Ike as if
waiting for him to jump out and kill him.
"Ike.are you gay?" he asked, flinching at the end, waiting to be
killed.
"No Colin, I'm bi." Ike answered calmly, putting an arm around
Maggie.
Colin looked at him as if he'd lost his mind then said, "My mother
says it's wrong for guys to love each other."
"Well then," started Maggie, getting up from her seat. "Your mother
is wrong."
Colin looked at her, then Ike, nodding as he left, grateful to get
away with his life. Maggie turned, smiled at the two boys and sat down
again, flipping off anyone who gave her boys strange looks.
Years from then they would look back on these days and sigh, wishing
maybe they could have changed something.anything, yet they would still be
together, one of the most important things in their lives.they were with
each other. Companionship was one of the few things they had longed for
and now they could have it for the rest of eternity.
