This was just a little plot bunny floating around my head. If you would like to use it and make it into a full story, please just contact me. Then we can discuss. Hope you enjoy it.

Truth or Dare

We all sat around the fire playing Truth or Dare.
"Kirsten! Heh heh. Truth.... Or DARE?" asked Jeff.
"Dare!" I shot back. My insides protested and my stomach twisted.
"Perfect! I dare you to go into the thick woods all by yourself!". evil grin.
"Simple. No problem."
"Wait, even better," the grin danced across his face and flickered with the flames coming from the fire, "I dare you to go in there for two hours. with one other person. James."
Everyone cracked up and winked at me.
"You were right Jeff," I said, "Even better."
This egged on the group even more.
"On one condition though," I reasoned, "You all have to keep playing as though nothing happened. You can't walk back towards the woods or else the adults will get suspicious. All the blame will be on you."
"Done deal. Wait. James? You okay with this? He he." Jeff questioned.
"Okay with it?! I've been waiting for an opportunity like this for weeks!" James replied.
With the group giggling in the behind us, we walked off towards the woods, arm in arm to stir up even more laughter. I was nervous for two things. One, the fact that people have been kidnapped in these woods. That fear was settled when James put his arm around my waist, making me feel as safe as I had ever been. Two, the fast that I had never kissed anyone before and this seemed like the time it would happen.
We were standing just inside the bushes that outlined the huge woods.
"Soooooo. what do we do for two hours in these trees?" I asked. Silence followed. Damnit, why can't I be an extrovert instead on quiet and shy?!?!
"Well, I guess we can walk around for a little bit," James replied to the quiet surrounding us. Off we went, up the trail. Secretly I wished we'd get lost, but then I remembered the others back at the house. It wasn't too hard, walking around. There were little lights in the ground, illuminating parts of the mulched path. Plus, it was a pretty bright moon our and there were patches of light coming down between the foliage above.
We talked about small things, how we were happy to graduate from our little Catholic grade school but nervous about starting high school. Stuff we did over the summer was a topic that didn't last long. After all, it was only the middle of June.
I checked my watch, "Wow, it's only been 10 minutes." I yawned, getting bored from walking up and down the dirt paths. Finally, we came to a clearing where a hammock was. It was just too perfect. The hammock was huge and looked strong, levitating between two tall, sturdy oak trees.
I couldn't hold it in any more, my giggles escaped my mouth until I clapped my hand over it.
"What's so funny?" asked James. I told him that this was a total setup. We looked around and didn't see any of our friends. I shifted my weight between my feet and finally pulled James over to the hammock.
"C'mon, I'm getting tired of walking around. These new shoes aren't quite broken in yet," I said, trying to look as honest as possible. James knew me too well but he didn't mind my little fib. We laid back in the netting on the hammock. His arm around me, and me, leaning my head against his body.
The sky was so pretty. The stars seemed to shine a hundred times brighter out here. The moon was just gorgeous.
My thoughts were interrupted when James pulled his arm off me and turned so he was facing me.
