The situation was bad-really bad. A blonde-haired girl stood rigid,
wiping her sweaty palms on her khakis. Next to her, a slightly taller,
black-haired girl had backed herself into a the corner of the room. Both
pairs of eyes were fixated on the opposite side of the room. Something
horrendous lurked there, its onyx optics scanning the two.
"Houston, we have a problem," Chrissy sneered, her dark hair falling
in her eyes. Her sick sense of humor was visible even in the toughest of
times- it had become her trademark throughout the years.
"Yeah, no shit Sherlock," Jessie cried. She meant for her voice to
sound calm and cool; instead it came out squeaky and meek. Her smaller
disposition gave her the appearance of someone half her age.
Without warning the creature moved into the light. Jessie shrieked,
her eyes wide, sweat breaking out on her forehead.
The creature was gigantic. It stood on massive paws, red and dirtied
from a night's journey. Sharp knives protruded through the fur in the form
of claws- talon-like and razor sharp. Its muscled hide was the deep shade
of night, scars dotting its legs and chest. Its tail curled menacingly, the
fur on its back stood on end. Its thick neck was constantly moving and
scanning for the movement of the girls. Sharp, black eyes protruded from
its thick skull. Spikes rose from the dark fur. Its torn ears were pointed
in the general direction of fresh meat; the fur on top coming to vicious
points. It's maw gleamed with saliva, curved teeth yellowed with age. Blood
glinted on its wrinkled muzzle; Cold, harsh vocals sounded a deep rumble .
"What are we going to do now?" Chrissy inquired.
"Run?" Jessie guessed.
"Well, it would help if we had somewhere to go, genius," Chrissy
spat.
Jessie looked around the room and realized that Chrissy was right.
The creature was blocking their only way out- the door.
Great, Jessie thought to herself. Trapped!
She suddenly had an idea. Slowly, she tiptoed over to her desk, her eyes
watching the creature carefully. Her fingertips brushed the desk drawer,
then clamped on its handle and yanked it open. Slowly she grabbed her
scissors- and not the kid kind either, the really sharp ones. Suddenly she
jumped up on her desk and called to Chrissy.
"C'mon! It will be safe up here."
Chrissy held back, then decided to sprint towards the desk. The creature
had leapt upon Chrissy in an instant, it's incisors and claws tearing at
Chrissy's vulnerable shoulder.
Her screams could be heard across town.
