Gaze Upon The Skies

I look up to the sky
I gaze upon the stars
Each sparkling just as bright
As the moonlight in your eyes

I reach out for you
You dissipate into nothing
You were but a figment
A figment of my imagination

I look down on the valley
I gaze at the trees
I scream and I cry
I fall on my knees

A tear glistens
It falls to the ground
I have no strength left
I can but cry

And cry I do
A torrent of tears
I cry for everyone
I cry for myself

I cry to God
And the heavens open
Rain showers upon me
Drenching me

It cleanses me
Refreshes me
Takes away my sorrows
Allows me to look to the sky

I see a million stars shining
I hold out my hands
Suddenly a flicker
A glance of a lady

She reaches out
Arms outstretched
I reach out
And touch nothing

I feel the mockery of the world
As I stand upon the mountain
I cry to the world
My tears but forgotten

The sky clears
The clouds part
The sun shines through
And I am comforted

I look far and wide
I gaze at the beauty
Beauty of the world
And the things within

My burden has been lifted
My spirit lifted to the sky
The sun strengthens me
As I stretch out my arms

I lean back
Feel myself begin to fall
I look back at the sky
I smile,
For once, I am comforted
For the land is mine…
