Mercury Angel II: I wrote this poem in free verse, and the first rough draft is not in English, so don't throw potatoes at me just because it doesn't rhyme! By the way, I'm planning to put this poem into a story I wrote called The Legend of Demons and Elves. Since his is a rough draft, if anyone has suggestions about making this a more flowing poem, please review! Criticisms are also welcomed, but RESPECT the poet. Thank you and enjoy reading.

P.S. Because I wrote this poem in a very Chinese way, I included an explanation to my poem near the end, in case any of you don't get some of the things I say. If you have other questions, please feel free to ask in your reviews! ^__^

THE DREAM (or The New Mandarin Duck Butterfly Dream)
By Mercury Angel II
For Eric and all TLODAE readers

Yesterday was like running water going east,
Flowing far away from me and cannot be kept.
Today it troubles my heart with many worries.
Draw a sword to slice the river, but the water flows on,
Raise a glass to drown sorrow, but sadness becomes more sad.
Tomorrow I drift everywhere as vagrant as a cool breeze.

Only young people do smile,
No one hears the old ones cry.
"Love," one word, is too laborious.
Would you rather ask to find out the truth,
Or would you rather pretend to be a fool.
Knowing more or less is often difficult to be content.

It seems like an age supposedly without
the existence of the false lovers,
but who could get rid of all the sorrow in the mortal world?
This is a world of desire, debauchery, and false lovers.
I've already gone insane in the mortal world,
why even bother to reach for the blue sky.
Why not gently lie down and rest.

Explanation:
(PLEASE READ!!! IT HELPS YOU IN UNDERTANDING MY POEM!!!)

1. Line 5: "Raise a glass"--drinking alcohol.
2. Line 18: "blue sky" is the heaven.
3. Line 19: "gently...rest." I'll give you a hint. Right here "lie down and rest" can be "lie down to sleep", but it can also mean "to die."
