Ascent into the Unknown

Just when I thought heaven forsake me
Just when I thought everything's gone
Just when I thought my soul went dead
Just when I thought I could no longer fly.

I was so afraid to look at your eyes
To hear your voice and let you hear mine
Too afraid with all the shame I wear
Afraid to death that I didn't want to breathe.

But no, you healed my wounds
You healed my ill heart
My broken wings you repaired with love
You made me stronger than before.

Every word that you spoke
I'll keep here in my chest
I'll carry and keep them with care
For they are precious treasures.

I knowm that time you wanted to cry
But you did not for you are strong
You'll never know how I admire you
Or understand how grateful I am unto you.

I am not an angel of grace
But you told me to try one more time
To fly even higher and better
To try and live freely again.

I know, I never got the chance
But someday, somewhere, somehow...
I'll be safely around your arms
And you'll be there until my tears are gone dry.
