Author's note: I wrote this last night to vent my anger towards a lot of different things in today's world, mainly with politics and the like. It can also be read as slightly pagan in nature, but I'd just finished reading Mists of Avalon and Lady of Avalon, and I like MZB's poetry in her works. ^_^ Anyway, what must Mother Earth be thinking as She watches Her Children wreak havoc upon one another?

Tears of the Earth

Mother Earth weeps for peace;
Hark and listen to cry!
Oh Earth Mother!
How you weep when
You see the destruction thy
Sons and daughter have wrought
Upon you, oh Mother of All!

She wants world unity but
Oh! How ignorance blinds us!
Hear our Mother's resounding cry:
Oh Mortals! Dear Children!
Open thy eyes! Make not war
Upon one another!

Listen to her teaching of
Compassion, faith, love,
Wisdom and learning!
Listen not to thy selfish leaders!

Where is the balance for Our Mother?
Where is the Light, to inspire Hope
In this troubled time of Darkness?

Oh Children of Mother Earth!
Be not blind for you must
Open your mind to Our Mother's sorrow!
Listen to Her Tears!
Hearken to the Light!
Bring Balance with Life, Love, and Wisdom
To help ease Earth Mother's tears!
