Hard to Get

What you want can’t be picked from a tree,

It’s hers to give, it’s yours to win,

But trying hard doesn’t work,

Gifts don’t change her mind,

Deeds done out of your will may catch her eye,

But if they’re not in your nature,

Then like lies, they won’t last;

Only beauty wins anything,

The one thing you can’t make her see,

Your beauty,

What she has to find on her own free;

What you have to see,

Whether she’s yours or never would be.
