Reflections

I stand on the mountains
I kneel before the seas
I sit by the lake
I lie in the forests

The stars shine brightly
Illuminating the earth
I stare at the expanses
The canyons stretched before me

I stand alone
Breath a sigh of relief
The mountains comfort me
The air refreshes me

I look back at the past
Looked at all my foolish ways
How I stumbled and crawled
The things I’ve said and done

Then I think to myself
What I fool I’ve been
Unrequited love, broken trust
The small things in life

And yet broken because of it
Heart torn and dreams shattered
But for what cause?
For nothing…

For the best thing in life
Are always free
Love, love is the sweetest thing
To care and share

Then I look forward
I see my future
I see a thousand possibilities
All stemming from one step

Which step to choose?
Where to from here?
To sail the seven seas
Or to climb the highest mountains?

It’s a challenge to decide
A step, irreversible in time
All too appealing
And yet only one to be taken

Suddenly I am not alone
For with me are friends
They surround me
Embrace me

Then do I realize,
I was never alone
For with me were always my friends
Caring and sharing my burdens
The step I take in confidence
Knowing I am loved
And the sun shines so bright
To eternity and beyond…
