TAROT CARDS
EPISODE 1: THE GAME
It is 4:30 on a cloudy, dark, Friday Afternoon. Not trying to walk home in the storm, six teens stay at the school until the storm gets better. The school is called Morsburg High, and it’s gigantic! There’re five floors of classrooms, three gyms and seven cafeterias. The school is for really smart people. The students that attend the school are mostly African American.
“Nope, no one’s coming.” Says a brown skin boy. His name is Wayne. Wayne is about average in looks. His eyes are hazel brown and he has short hair. He’s always wearing a white T, blue jeans and white shoes. Wayne shuts the door and turns off the lights. The six teens are in an empty classroom. The desks and the chairs are lined against the walls, leaving lots of empty space in the room. The classroom is pretty much empty and boring looking.
Sydnee lights the three candles in the middle of the room. “There.” She says. Sydnee is pretty cute. She’s brown skin also. Sydnee has long, curly brown hair and a hot body. She’s wearing a purple skirt and white heels. She’s a very proper girl. She never uses slang and is the smartest out of everyone in the room. She often looks down on people.
Arnesha, who is looking through the cards, is the quiet one. Everyone wonders why she’s so mute because she’s obviously pretty. Her voice is soft and sweet. Many people love to hear her talk. She has a slight island accent. Arnesha is wearing a blue tank top, blue pants and white shoes. Arnesha puts the cards down in front of her.
“Alright everyone,” Syndee says getting up. “Get in a circle. You all know your spots.” She demands. Everyone gets in a circle. Wayne sits north of the candle and Arnesha sits next him. Next to her is a young looking pretty boy with a light brown skin complexion. His name is Gary. Gary has twists stopping past his neck. He likes to shake them around because…he can. Gary loves blue, and mostly everything in his closet is blue. He’s wearing a light blue Sean John shirt with the pants to match. His shoes are sparkling white. Next to him is a light skinned girl named Cherae. Cherae is quite feisty and resembles Alicia Keys. She’s quite busty and has a big butt as well. However, she isn’t fat though. She’s just…developed. Her hair brown hair with blonde highlights is medium length. She’s wearing a maroon skirt with white shoes. Next to her is a tall dark brown senior named Andrew, nicknamed “Drew”. Drew is definitely eye-candy for the girls. He has long cornrows that stop halfway down his back. He’s wearing a long sleeve gray shirt, black pants and shoes. Sydnee is sitting between him and Wayne.
“Wayne, hurry up and finish shuffling the cards!” Sydnee demands. Wayne glares at Sydnee.
“Wait.” He says coldly. Wayne shuffles the cards and puts them in the middle of the circle.
“What game is this anyway?” Cherae asks.
“It’s called “Wish Upon A Tarot”. We each pick a tarot card faced down from the deck. Once everyone has a card, we flip it over to reveal the card we have. Then, in the order of the circle, everyone says the name of his or her card and an angel will come down and grant us any wish we want. Isn’t this like, cool?” Sydnee says. She seems to be the only person interested in this.
“So basically, we’re wasting time.” Drew says.
“No… We’re not! This is supposed to be fun.”
“Supposed to be.” Gary mocks. Not only does Gary looks younger, he sounds younger too. Sydnee glares at Gary. Gary looks the opposite direction.
“Anyway…” Sydnee says. “Wayne, we’ll start with you.”
Wayne picks a card from the deck. He’s about to flip it over when Sydnee stops him.
“No! Wayne, you’ll ruin it! We can’t look at the cards until everyone picked their card!” Sydnee rolls her eyes. “You people are impossible.”
“No, just you, bitch.” Cherae yells.
Sydnee rolls her eyes again. “Immaturity.”
“Ahem.” Arnesha says. Arnesha picks a card from the pile. “Done.” She says softly and cutely.
It is now Gary’s turn, however he’s not paying attention. He’s too busy looking at himself in the mirror by the cabinet. He’s making facial posses and winking at himself.
“Uh… Gary?” Arnesha says as she slightly pulls his arm. Gary looks at Arnesha.
“Huh? What?” He asks somewhat clueless.
“It’s your turn.” She answers.
“Oh!” Gary says. Everyone sighs. Gary takes a card from the deck and continues to look at himself in the mirror.
Cherae pulls a card from the deck. The pile is now messed up.
“Cherae!” Sydnee scolds.
“My bad, bitch. Damn.” Cherae says.
Drew fixes the pile and takes a card from the deck. Sydnee takes a card from the deck after Drew.
“Now flip over your cards.” Sydnee flips over her card. “Ohh! I got Lovers!” Sydnee says happily.
Wayne raises an eyebrow. “Death?” He chuckles.
“Temperance?! I don’t want Temperance! I want Moon!” Gary complains.
“A card’s a card.” Drew says.
“Now, everyone, say your card out loud.” Sydnee says. “Wayne.” She adds.
“Death.” Wayne says.
“…Moon.” Arnesha says shyly.
Gary glares at Arnesha. “Temperance…”
“Star.” Cherae says.
“World.” Drew says.
“Lovers.” Sydnee says.
Suddenly, the lights start flickering. Sydnee and Cherae scream while everyone else look around. The room is dark again and the candle fire disappears.
“It’s coming.” Sydnee says. Minutes went by, and nothing had happened. Drew began whistling, Arnesha began playing games on her cell-phone and Cherae is looking at her nails.
“What happened?” Sydnee asked. “You people must have did it wrong! Let’s try again!” She scolds.
“I don’t think so.” Drew says.
“Did you honestly think an angel was gonna come here anyway?” Wayne asks. Sydnee doesn’t answer. Gary walks to the window.
“I think the storm stopped.” He says.
“Thank God. I did not want to walk home in that.” Drew says. Arnesha gets up and walks out of the room. Cherae, Drew and Gary follow her out the room.
“Wayne.” Sydnee says as she gets up. Wayne turns around to face Sydnee.
“What?” He asks coldly.
“Why are you like that?” She asks.
“…Like what?”
“So… Distant. You need to lighten up some.”
Wayne looks confused. “Really… How do I do that?” He asks sarcastically.
“Try talking?”
Wayne rolls his eyes. “Whatever, man.” He walks out of the room. Sydnee sighs.
“Lower classman.” She says. Sydnee gathers the cards and puts them in her purse. Sydnee takes the candles and throws them in the trash. Sydnee walks out the room. As soon as Sydnee leaves the room, the circle everyone was gathered around glowed white. Someone…er….something, emerged from it, holding a long, sharp, machete in it’s hand.
It’s pitch black outside. Arnesha finally gets home and closes her door. Arnesha is about to run upstairs until she hears a voice.
“Arnesha Lynch!” A woman who’s in her late thirties yells. Arnesha slowly turns to her mom.
“Where have you been?! It’s 10:30 at night! You better have a damn good reason for coming home late!”
“I’m sorry, mom! But it was a storm and I stayed at school until it got better. Then after I left school, I went on the bus to come home, but I was tired and I feel asleep. I was all the way across town and---”
“Arnesha.” Mom says as she puts her hands on Arnesha’s shoulders. Mom smiles. “I believe you. Next time when you decide to stay after school, call us. Your father or I could have picked you up.” Arnesha’s mom always believes anything Arnesha tells her because she knows her daughter rarely ever lies.
Arnesha smiles. “Okay, mom.” Arnesha goes upstairs in her room.
Arnesha’s room a quite big. There’s a large pink bed on the left side, and her dressers are on the right side. She has dolls, stuffed animals and teddy bears(She’s such a girl. :p) all around her room.
Arnesha takes off her red jacket and hangs it up in her closet. Small rocks are being thrown at her window. Arnesha tries to ignore it, but the noise keeps getting louder and louder. Irritated, Arnesha runs to her window.
She sees a shadow outside in the darkness. Arnesha raises an eyebrow. Whoever it was, he or she must know Arnesha because they’re staring right at her! Straight in her eyes. Arnesha looks closely at the figure. The thing is wearing all black. All Arnesha could make out is a pumpkin…why a pumpkin? Arnesha rolls her eyes and closes her shades. She takes off her shirt and her pants and lies down on her bed after turning off her lights.
“Arnesha!” Yells her mom from across the hall. “Did you lock the door?”
“Sorry! I’ll lock it!” Arnesha says. Arnesha gets out of bed and puts on a white shirt. She walks downstairs to lock the door. Oddly enough, the door was already locked.
“Okay…” Arnesha says. Arnesha walks back upstairs in her room. She takes her shirt off and goes back to sleep, unaware that someone’s lurking in the shadows in her room, waving its machete around.
