The air was crisp and dark as Eyes-From-Ahead followed a blackish figure. It was some one from the Slashed-Moon pack according to the white hoop on the middle of there back. The black figures positioned their arrow on the tight sinew twine, lifted the bow, and draw the arrow feathers to the curve of his lips. Eyes-From-Ahead's eyes followed the bone white arrow to an elderly buck. The buck stood tranquilly in a moon illuminated opening. He swept his noise over patches of grass, and then grazed. The black figure aimed at the buck, and unbound his clutch on the string, and sent the arrow flying towards the buck. At the same moment the leader jumped in front of the arrow. The arrow pierced the bucks left rear leg. The leader buck fell to the ground. The black figure saw this and dropped his bow, and took off scampering in to the woodland. Then a smaller deer ran up and snatched the bow. Unexpectedly a flare of light had flashed and Eyes-From-Ahead was in the future. She saw a large war. She started running to the battle fielded to aid a dieing ally, but before she could make it she slipped on a rocky hill.
Immediately she woke up panting. She had cold sweat running down her fur, and a chill on her back. She took a deep breath, and listened to the chill nigh air weave around the wood chimes making them sing a hallow note. This calmed her, but the dream was still burning fresh in her mind. She hade to tell the king... She had to tell him to kill his first son. Would he believe her? Would he believe his first son would kill the leader buck, and start the war. Eyes-From-Ahead laid her head back on to her fluff less hide pillow, closed her eyes, and faded away in to slumber.
The next morning Eyes-From-Ahead nudged her noise in to the bottom of her shawl, and lifted her head. The shawl slid over her black furry ears and landed at the middle of her main. She also took a piece of charcoal from the burned out fire and rubbed it above her eyes making a blackish eye shadow.
Eyes-From-Ahead opened the leather yurt flap and stepped out in to the chilled morning air. The forest was lush and due still hung on leafs of various plants. The sky was blue but the sun was still hanging over the mountains. The suns rays hit the tops of the tall pine trees on the valley side. The valley rose high above Eyes-From-Ahead. Trees covered the shallow sloping walls until the top of the valley were massive red rocks stood. Down in the valley was the Slashed-Moon camp. About 10 yurts and a fire pit filled a small area of the valley. A small trickle ran by the side of the camp and went further on to a crystal blue lake. Eyes-From-Ahead briskly walked over to the fire pit were some fellow ails were cooking deer meat.
"Morning shaman." Said a black-eared were male.
"Morning." Said Eyes-From-Ahead. Eyes-From-Ahead grabbed a piece of deer meat but placed it back in to the pan
"Nervous bought some 'in? Did you have another dream?" asked the black-eared male.
"Suppose". Said Eyes-From-Ahead, and she walked away, but not before she snatched a piece of deer meat from the black eared one. Eyes-From-Ahead walked down a dirt path. The path went down in to the valley, and followed the trickle like a dog following its owner. The path was lined with white stones that looked to be white marble, but some were not stones they were bones or skulls of deer. It was a long walk and the sun was now 1/4 of the way up in the sky. The sun let little rays of light trickle through the tall pines, and fall on to the forest flour that was drape with vines, undergrowth, and moss. Eyes-From-Ahead finally reached the Alpha males hut.
This hut was bigger than moist. Two large hide ropes strained far from one side of the valley, to the other making two strata lines. Than between the two ropes seven wooden poles stood. The two poles on the end were only seven feet tall, each pole got taller as they went towards the center pole that was 10 feet tall. Then over this was a giant blanket of hides. The hides were stretched from one string to another and were pulled over the poles. It was like a drum except for the poles in the center. Than on the sides more animal furs hung down and were staked to the ground, making a wall on each side. The only way to get in was by going in threw the main door. The main door was tall and hag a wooden frame. It was covered with a neatly sewn hide flap, and had two deer sculls on the top of the door. Eyes-From-Ahead opened the door to the hut. But it was not as dark as hers was because they had put big slabs of mica on the roof to make skylights. It smelled of fresh soil and sage. In front of Eyes-From-Ahead there was the throne chair. It was made out of stone, and over the armrests, and over the set was a blanket made from the softest and finest rabbit furs.
"Hello, are you here to see the king? Oh I'm sorry I cant se you in this light. You're the shaman follow me pleas." Said a gray furry mail. Eyes-From-Ahead could now see why the gray male could not tell who she was; his right eye had a slash in it. He took Eyes-From-Ahead to a door and opened it. Eyes-From-Ahead walked in. the alpha male was standing there smiling.
Eyes-From-Ahead walked over to where the alpha male was standing and bowed her head. She lowered her tail between her legs.
"Pleas rise, and tell me what is troubling you." Said the alpha male.
"Well I had another dream of a war. Some one shot the leader buck. It was... it was your son. It was your first-born son, you must kill your first-born son or he will start a war. Not just any war one that could wipe out the whole race. Please trust me kill him." Pleaded Eyes-From-Ahead.
"Well that is a lot to ask but I suppose I must if it is for the pack. You better be right about this Eyfa". Said the alpha male. (Eyfa was Eyes-From-Ahead's short name).
Eyfa bowed her head and left. But little did the alpha male now that the alpha female was listening in on this conversation. She did not wont her first-born son killed. She would have to have a plan.
The alpha female's first son was due in two weeks. She decided she was going to adopt a son and tell no one. Then they would kill her adopted son and not the real son.
***
About a week and a half latter on a cold night the alpha female slid out of the hut, and walked up the white stoned path. One of the villagers had just had a litter. The alpha female went to there yurt and took thee most scrawny looking pup. The mother of the pup knew the plan. She bent her head over and kissed the pup on the cheek. Tears rained off the cheek of the mother and fell on the pup. The alpha female raped the pup in a rabbit fur blanket and walked down the white stone path, back to the hut.
The next morning she told the pack that her first son came, and that morning the pup would be killed. The pup was carried down to the lake in a basket. They pushed the basket with the pup in to the water. They watched the basket get pulled toward the waterfall and then the basket was pulled over the waterfall and gone. The other were thought it strange that not even a tear fell from the alpha female. There was no talking for the rest of the day.
The next day the alpha female gave birth to four other pups the first two were male and the last two female. The first one was named Chases-The-Earth or Chte for short. Chte was a strong pup. He was black with the white "O" marking on his back. He would make a perfect prince, and even an Alpha male when his father died.
The next son was Chases-A-Feather or Chaf for short. He had a black coat but he had gray paws and the "O" on his back was gray. He would never become a great were he did not have the rite markings.
Then they had a daughter called Dances-Under The-Stars or Dauts. She was a very pretty pup. She had a white coat, with a black back and the top of her head was black too.
The last pup was strong. She was white with a peach back. She also had peach on the top of her head, and her tail.
Each pup was given a weapon. The first pup was given a bow and bone arrows for leadership, accurse, and love. The second pup was given an ax for agility, cunning, and mind. The third pup was given a dagger for swiftness, cunning ness and love. The last pup was given a sword for leadership, speed, and cunningness. Each of these weapons were given to the pups, and so each of the pups would help start a new pack.
