The Wind
by Joyce Reid

Oh silent torrent, laughing spray
That surges through the birches, grey,
Commands the oak to bend her boughs
And rustles summer’s aging brow.

Oh mighty sound, the rushing wind
That causes limbs to crack and spin,
Dives crashing, breaking strength and will
And tumbles, roaring, over hills.
