Flight of the Fairy
by Joyce Reid

A tiny silken fairy dances swiftly through the air;
The sunlight splashes on her face and shimmers in her hair.
Her dress of flowing scarlet, her head adorned with flowers,
She rides the billows of warm air for hours upon hours.

Her slender form is balanced by her cape of draping red
Blending in perfect harmony with the rose-buds on her head.
While catching the sapphire glimmer in her lustrous, luminous eyes
Is the wide expanse above her, the open, endless skies.

Her lips are a perfect beauty that form into perfect shape:
A smile so elegant that it no human hand could make;
Someone great had made her, given life to her small form
And entertained His fancy to free this sunbeam, sunrise born.

She flits through the air breathing deeply the morning dew
Of this rosy dawning day made with love and made so new;
She is thankful for the chance to fly freely through the air
And for her life she raises a silent, heartfelt prayer.
