The Legacy of the Silver Kitsune
Chapter 6
By Bella~Rose01

There was a silvering sound and Sakura turned her head rapidly to investigate, the weeping Cherry-Blossom tree was sealing them in.
"Kitsune please, tell me what’s going on?" begged Sakura, turning and looking at him. His head was down and she couldn’t see his eyes. So she looked forward to see a roughly carved grass and leave staircase going downwards. They walked in silence down the stairs; there was eighteen in all. At the bottom step there was silver instead of green and crimson. Kitsune bent down, therefore Sakura was dragged down too owing to the fact Kitsune hadn’t yet let go of her wrist, which had blood oozing down the sides of her hands.
"We’ll clean that up soon," said Kitsune in a low voice. Sakura nodded. "I’ll explain everything once we get inside," he said. He then lade his hand on the silver thing, it glowed and opened to reveal a grey shoot. He helped her to sit just before the shoot. "Hold on to the puppies," he said and gave her a gentle push. She slid down the steel tube, all the while screaming with excitement, half with terror. Kitsune shook his head.
"Ready Olivia?" asked Kitsune to his daughter that he held in his hands. She smiled wickedly and nodded. Then they too slid down, Olivia clinging for dear life and Kitsune laughing with pure happiness, a thing he hadn’t done in a long time.

Sakura landed with a ‘thump’ on what she thought was the floor of Kitsune’s space ship. It was a sky-blue, well an Earth sky-blue she guessed. She didn’t have the faintest clue what colour the sky was on Kitsune’s planet… She pushed herself off the floor with her un-bloodied hand, a seemly difficult task, espeacially if you land flat on your back. Kitsune arrived, he landed on his feet, and Sakura glared at him for this.
"You didn’t have a smooth landing?" asked Kitsune stifling a laugh.
"What makes you say that?" asked Sakura suspiciously.
"Because your hair is wonky…" said Kitsune smiling. He received another glare. "Come on, I’ll fix up this hand," Kitsune grabbed Sakura by the injured wrist and hauled her over to a sliding metal door. He pushed a few buttons but the symbols on them made no sense to Sakura. The door went up with a ‘shoof’ they entered what looked like a lab, as soon as they were both inside the door ‘shoof’ closed. Kitsune pushed Sakura down in a chair of sorts. It was red and glossy. It had a square seat, squares on the side for armrests and a square backing. Sakura realised as she sat in it; it was very soft. There was a desk in front of Sakura’s chair and another chair on the other side, exactly like the chair she was sitting in. Kitsune took William, Diamond, and Kevin out of Sakura’s pocket and put them in something very simular thing to a playpen that standing in the corner right next to desk but allowed space so you could move in and out freely. Except there was a special seat for each of the puppies. Diamond was in the red one, Kevin was in the blue one, William was in the gold one, and Olivia was in the green one.
"This will teach them how to control their powers," thought Kitsune. "Hopefully…" He then walked back over to where Sakura was sitting and sat in the chair on the other side of the desk. He then got out from a cupboard to the side of the desk a green box and opened it. He brought out, what Sakura thought looked like, red little cloth disks. He opened the packet they were concealed in and separated one from the rest of them. He then gently grabbed Sakura’s wrist and turned it over so he could see the damage.
"Ahh… Yep, just as I thought. That’s gonna scar," he said. He then placed the disk on her palm and put his thumbs on either side of it, he then lifted it up to reveal brand new tissue and all the blood had been cleaned away.
"How did you do that?" asked Sakura amazed lifting up her hand and turning backwards and forwards. The red cloth disk had now turned an indigo colour.
"Funny… Usually it turns purple. Must be because of the different blood… Oh these are first aid cloths. See my blood (and my children’s blood) have healing powers. So when I push my thumb on the disk, a microscopic barb, with pain reliever on it so I don’t feel it, goes into my thumbs and takes some of my blood. It then soaks the disk with my blood and heals the wound. It’s very simple," explained Kitsune sliding open another draw in the desk and putting the now indigo cloth in, what Sakura guessed was a rubbish bin. But it was actually a scanner. He then pressed a square button and from out of the desk a screen appeared. It showed her D.N.A chain, what type of cells in her blood stream, what the human’s called them, Sakura’s parent’s D.N.A, blah, blah, blah. Kitsune yawned that stuff might’ve been thought ‘interesting’ by Helen, but if he was going to tell the truth, that kinda thing bored him. So he pushed the square button again and the screen returned from whence it came. Sakura all the while had looked from the screen to Kitsune with a raised eyebrow.
"Okay," said Sakura when it disappeared. "So why did that tree scratch me in the first place?" asked Sakura. Kitsune looked up at Sakura; he had been daydreaming for the last few minutes.
"Oh, see that tree is actually a Patronus Tree. My kind is given a seed on the day we become of age, which would be the equivalent of the human age of ten. They take the form of a tree it likes best on the planet of which it’s currently staying on. We then use these trees to protect something of ours. The only way you can gain entrance is if you’re a family member, as family members are always trusted, because it only opens on a D.N.A key. So next time, when you see a shimmering red hand you just press one of your own to it and it’ll open for you," explained Kitsune. "Did you understand all that?" he asked.
"Yep," said Sakura nodding. Sakura then got up and started walking around. Kitsune quickly followed.
"Say anything! Just make sure she doesn’t leave!" thought Kitsune, panic rising slowly but surely in his chest. "Would you like to see the fernery?" he asked. Sakura turned around to face Kitsune, a smile alighting her features.
"Sure, that would be so fascinating! Seeing plants from your planet. Lead the way!" She said excitedly. Kitsune breathed a non-visible sigh of relief. "But what about the puppies? Will they be okay by themselves?" said Sakura concernedly. Kitsune turned away so she wouldn’t see the furious look on his face.
"Damn it! With every passing moment her affections grow stronger for them. They shall become her weakness and she will end up dying for them. I know that with each one of my hearts. She’ll die because of me, and this can’t happen!" he thought. He turned around, sublimely calm. "Nah, they’ll be fine," said Kitsune, he even managed a grin. Kitsune’s were born actors. He then walked over to the desk and pushed the button that was in the shape of a flower and the other seven lab tables switched to reveal a hep of plants, the majority Sakura couldn’t recognise. There were brightly coloured flowers of blue, acid-green and yellow, magnetta and hundreds of colours she didn’t even knew existed. But there was a few she did recognise. There were lilies growing (the white kind and pond kind), red roses, and then on the last table there was a bonsai Cherry-Blossom tree. Sakura chuckled at the irony.
"How did you get these ones?" asked Sakura for all the flowers from Earth were on the tables closest to the end of the room.
"He… She picked and brought them in before we were discovered. The last thing I remember about being here is chucking the Patronus seed on top of the ship. They then knocked us out and transported us to the lab," said Kitsune sadly. He was angry with himself still not being able to say Helen’s name aloud. Sakura nodded, but her face too showed dismay. "She was the last one to touch them, I would appreciate if it remained that way…" said Kitsune, turning and looking at Sakura, she smiled and nodded. "Why is she smiling?" thought Kitsune.
"Do you want me to bring in more flowers for you?" asked Sakura, leaning in and watching the blossoming flowers surrounding her open cautiously.
"Err… No. I have everything I need," said Kitsune, putting emphasis on those last five words. Unfortunately for him, Sakura didn’t pick it up.
"Don’t you think the puppies should be put to bed?" asked Sakura suddenly turning around and looking at the "playpen" where Diamond and William were fast asleep, where as Kevin and Olivia could barely keep their eyes open. Kitsune turned and smiled.
"They’ve had a big day today," said Kitsune and his mind surged with protectiveness. They walked over to the playpen. Kitsune picked up Kevin and William and Sakura picked up Diamond and Olivia. Olivia stirred.
"Shhh!" soothed Sakura. "Go back to sleep," she whispered and it was done. Kitsune’s brow grew more furrowed but he didn’t say anything. Kitsune then nudged a button so that the door would go ‘shoop’; he then excited the room. Sakura quickly followed after him. He then went over to the other side of the room and nudged another button with his elbow and it opened to a room with four little beds, and what Sakura took a stabbed guess at, little dolls that looked a lot like Kitsune and other toys. The wallpaper was a coral colour and it had little blue, red, gold and green stars all around. There was also what sounded like a jewellery box or a mobile tune playing. There was a green bed, a pink bed, a blue bed and a gold bed. The gold bed and the blue bed were next to each other, the pink and green beds were next to each other too but were on the other side of the room. Sakura tucked the two girls into their beds, making sure they would be warm. Kitsune couldn’t help but notice how gentle she was with them, nearly as much as he was. Kitsune walked quietly to the door while Sakura ‘slunk’, Kitsune raised an eyebrow at her.
"What? It’s from the Pink Panther…" defended Sakura in a whisper. Kitsune pushed a button to close the door.
"I still don’t understand. Is this a human thing, as you like to put it?" said Kitsune. Sakura sighed and nodded. She looked at her watch it was three o’clock.
"I better get home… Granny will start to worry," said Sakura looking up at Kitsune, he nodded and opened the latch for her to exit. He then pressed his forehead against some of the vines hanging there; they then twined themselves around Sakura’s waist.
"Take care on your way home," said Kitsune, mild concern shining in his eyes. Sakura looked slightly alarmed.
"Oh, I think I’ll be fine. Thanks," she said. She was then carried all the way up the stairs. The Patronus tree opened up for her. "Thank you," she whispered, and the tree’s branches rustled back a reply she didn’t understand, but guessed was a "Your welcome". She then started to make the trip home; the tree then pushed out the basket.
"Oops! I forgot!" said Sakura she then bent down picked it up and continued on her merry way.

Granny walked down the stairs leading to the basement not in search of a blown light bulb. She was in search of the vineyard that looked a lot like bulbous grapes but were more of a lavender colour.
"Soon… Soon my brothers and sisters," she crooned as she ran a hand across a grape the size of her head. "Soon… You will hatch, and then we can finally kill the last of the Kitsune’s!"
