Final Cut
:bows down to the on-looking crowd:
Well ladies and gentlemen, sadly this is the final chapter in our love story. After tonight we will be telling tales of a different structure. Perhaps even of a different love! But don't let that get you down! After all, we haven't experienced the final telling of this tale!
Thus our story continues:
Brandon crookedly parked the car and rushed out and over to Jamie's door. He opened it hurriedly and pulled her, by her arm, out of the car.
"C'mon Jamie! Hurry up! Over here!" he quickly said while tugging on her arm.
Jamie simply shrugged, what she could, of her shoulders and followed Brandon over toward a nearby pavilion. Brandon sat down first and gently held Jamie's hand in his as she slowly began to sit down beside him. Brandon could wait no longer!
"Sit down! Sit down!" he hastily said as he yanked her body down next to his.
They sat alone in the pavilion, on an old picnic table. For the first few minutes Jamie sat quietly before Brandon, not saying much but smiling often. The moment she opened her mouth to speak, she suddenly felt Brandon's face pressed against hers. She pushed him back immediately.
"What are you doing?!" She demanded to know.
Brandon shrugged and felt confused. "Well", he began, "if you didn't notice, I was trying to kiss you, duh." He smiled and shook his head in amazement.
Jamie nodded and fell silent again. She had known what he was doing, but the question was more like why? Forgetting all morals, she jolted toward Brandon's lips and kissed him back, and back, and back again. (For the record, this went on for a while.)
Moving right along.
Nearly ten minutes later, Brandon opened his eyes and watched as Jamie fell back into her original sitting stance. He felt a major amount of relief that they had finally had their first kiss together! Seconds later, he removed a small pocketknife from his. pocket, and began to carve "Brandon + Jamie 4 Life" into the picnic table.
"Do you really think so Brandon?" Jamie asked quietly after reading the small message.
Brandon smirked. "Oh yeah, definitely. I'm starting to feel as if I'm in love with you." Jamie smiled at his response, but still questioned the message. "I don't know Brandon, life is a long time. Are you sure that you could do that?"
"Of course I can! What about you sweetheart?"
Jamie shrugged her shoulders and bit her lip before answering. "Well, I could try. How long is life anyway?
Brandon thought for a moment, then glanced over his shoulder and saw a lonely looking man sitting at another picnic table. The strange man was counting mounds of pocket money. "Well if you mean life, as in the prison sentence then we could ask that guy!" Jamie smiled happily again and nodded in agreement. "Yeah he looks like one of those grungy jail escapees"
The strange man had overheard their conversation, and started to make his way toward Brandon and Jamie's picnic table.
"Is anyone sitting here?" He asked sternly.
Brandon turned to check with Jamie that the seat was empty. She nodded and Brandon signaled for the man to sit down.
"Sir", Brandon began, "we were wondering if you could tell us how long life is."
The strange man creature sneezed.
"Bless Ya'll" Jamie automatically responded.
Brandon seemed a tad bit annoyed that Jamie had interrupted him. "Excuse you dear, you weren't being spoken to. Anyway. so sir, can you tell us how long life is?"
The strange man creature thought for quick moment. "Well, you can never be too certain about how long life is, because people die at different ages."
"WE'RE GOING TO DIE!?" Jamie exclaimed terrified.
"Well, duh!" Brandon laughed.
The strange man creature was quite frightened by this odd couple, and quietly sneaked away from the cursed picnic table.
Brandon and Jamie sat alone with blank expressions on their faces, as the watched the strange man creature run far far away. Brandon proudly turned to face Jamie.
"So", he began, "about life."
Jamie hurriedly interrupted Brandon, she was suddenly unsure about being with him for life. "Um, honey, well, I'm not so sure about this life thing. I don't want to be with someone who is going kill me. I don't want to die!"
Brandon seemed confused.yet again. "I never said that I going to kill you!"
"Oh yes you did! You even wrote it on the table!"
This was absurd, Brandon thought. How could Jamie get that idea! He harshly glared at her. "I thought you were different!" He grumbled.
"Different? I am different! You're the one who's just the same!" Jamie snapped back.
"The same as what?" Brandon asked curiously.
Jamie shrugged. "Just the same I guess."
A tear rolled down Brandon's cheek. "But I love you!"
Jamie happily smiled the same smile that she had earlier. "I love you too Brandon!"
"And we'll be together forever!" Brandon yelled joyfully.
Jamie felt confused and worried again. "Is forever the same as life?"
Brandon shrugged.
The End!
Now, wasn't that a sweet story? The moral is, strange men know everything. And also, love awaits you in the library!
