Teachers who give instructions but never follow their own
Only to slide to the level of hypocrites.
Papers and worksheets that get teachers their tenure
And a paycheck to substitute compassion.
Watching people who you thought could never be so petty
Turn and crave for a taste of popularity
To be accepted by idiots and arrogant snobs
How friends can quickly change . . . . . .
I have to admit, I'm used to it.
Parents that scream after you get something good
As a brief subterfuge from a little depression.
Won't care if you ace but explode if you fail
And can't catch the real signs of a fading spirit.
It's pretty sad, but I'm used to it.
Friends who fall short of holding your heart
And taking care of it with concern and thought.
They drift and stare back, seeing through air
Only to leave you to crumble into the desert.
Someone you depended on and put yourself soul into
Trusting them to not shatter your life
Only to find that you've made a mistake
And you're back at the beginning, all alone.
I'm used to it.
