She's paranoid about the strangest things
Self-conscious 'bout her angel wings
Listen closely
'cause when she sings
it's like blues in a bloodthirsty way

He watches the news for the cold hard facts
Likes to play Zeppelin on his daddy's ax
Lost his love life
But it's coming back
Not now, but a week from today

Dear Angel of Avalon
Hold your armies off a while
The reaper is coming on
Riding many a mile

I watch cartoons on Saturday mornin'
Heals you right up when your heart is torn, an'
I can't feel the throb 'cause my body's numb
Can't feel the world 'cause mind's gone dumb

So I was like, "Woah, I got the blues, got to get out of this place…"
And she was like, "But it'll pass, It'll all pass, just go watch cartoons or something."
And he was like, "Dude, how did I get in this poem?"
"Because I put you here, dammit."

Pretty things
And angel wings
They tend to blind us all
Sweet ice cream
And children's dreams
And the pride before the fall.

Society , hilarity
We've lost all our sincerity

Bulimic teens in gorgeous jeans
Are flipping through their magazines
With blonde hair dyes and painted eyes
To find their glitter-clad disguise

And dying me are guessing when
The gas price will go down again
And remedies that cure disease
Are wasted on celebrities
More liquor, please!

Dear Angel of Avalon
Hold your armies off a while
The reaper is coming on
Riding many a mile

Please forgive me
Words escape me
Lady Luck,
Do you hate me?

He stopped watching the news, he stopped everything
Went and bought himself a gold diamond ring
'Cause she's a lady
His new favorite thing
Still plays Zeppelin, but this time she sings

She's getting over her self-consciousness
Found a hero that loves her best
Looks gorgeous
In a wedding dress
That shows off her Avalon-wings

Dear Angel of Avalon
Hold off your armies a while
Can't you see there's a wedding going on?
Keep on rollin', sweet child.
