Trying to hide and still feel brave
Fear in your eyes,
Afraid.
Of him.
He's stripped you of everything
You once took pride in.
And then of your clothes
So as to make you embarrassed
But the only thing worth being embarrassed about is
Him.
That sorry excuse for a man.
Why did you stay with him?
When all he did was cause you pain.
Emotional and Physical Pain.
Did you think that was love?
Did I?
Asking myself these questions as if giving advice
To another.
But really, I knew the answers and the advice
Were for myself.
