ARIZONA

The mountains are black construction paper

cut into sharp angles,

glued onto a blue and yellow watercolor.

White-winged doves ask "Who cooks for you?"

again and again, wishing for an answer.

Cacti stand like chubby people with their arms

out, welcoming the moon.

A girl sits on her porch, waiting for the stars to come out.
