Dead at Seventeen

By: Chi Yagami

It happened again,

Only this time at my school.

Sure, people think about it all the time,

Even I’ve wondered what it would be like.

But who are we kidding?

None of us have the guts to commit it.

Then why did he?

He threw his life away,

He never got the chance to go to collage,

He missed out on having a family.

He lost his life through confusion,

Through anger and misunderstanding.

But was it worth it?

Was it worth throwing all the really good things in life away,

Just because of a couple bad ones?

Just because a car hits a bump on a road,

Doesn’t mean the tire will pop.

There may be roadblocks along the way,

But they’re worth going through to get to your prize at the end,

A prize so valuable,

It takes a lifetime to get,

The prize of living.

However…

Some of us do not realize the value of living,

And hatred fills our minds.

Hatred is a deadly enemy.

Who will it strike next?

You could be the next one,

Dead at Seventeen.
